A Modern Take on Dining Rooms
This remodel project involved the entire home, giving both the homeowners and the VanderBeken Remodel team an opportunity to let this Camano Island house and its stunning views shine.
We remodeled all of the living spaces, including separate Family, Living, and Game Rooms, as well as the Dining Room, Kitchen, Master Bedroom and Bathroom. The aesthetic throughout the home is modern, urban nautical, combining neutral greys, concrete and wood with bright white accents, stainless steel hardware, and bright white window trim.
Elongated teardrop pendant lights over the bar serve the secondary purpose of visually separating the kitchen from the dining room. We transformed an open space behind the island bar into a sitting room by removing a railing and adding subfloor. We laced in red oak hardwood with a grey stain to match in order to create the friendly sitting area just off the kitchen. The original space overlooked the office, which we converted into a chic wine room perfect for lazy nights in or hosting guests.
We refinished and restained the old narrow blonde wood floor in the kitchen and dining area with wider grey oak finished flooring to tie the rooms together. We also updated the window frames throughout the house to create more cohesion.
